Hi Just an addition to a post that was on here on so long ago about feeding Clivers and Marigold to horses suffering from Lymphangitis. My horse has suffered about 4 times now over that past 3 years. I had never heard of it until I read the post and was intrigued. Have anyone fed this and has it helped? Thanks x

A horse at our yard developed severe lymphangitis in a hind leg, the whole leg was huge from top to bottom. Alongside his daily vet treatment he was fed a cleavers herb supplement to help detox and remove some of the fluid that was oozing out through the skin. He also had topical cream.

On this occasion the products came from Hilton Herbs after a phone call to Hilary Self to double check this was the correct type of product to use.

This, alongside the vet treatment helped a great deal to minimise the scarring and dodgy hairgrowth that occured after the initial diagnosis.

As far as I can tell, yes, it certainly did help but before you use ANYTHING other than your vets prescribed treatment make sure you check with him first as you can get the most awful reactions by self medicating.

Thanks very much for that. Yes he's been on antibiotics on all occasions which has treated it but would much rather the prevention method. Thanks very much for the info.

No problem. Just to add, the horse in question also had longstanding liver problems and apparently the cleavers would have helped with that too.

I feed Clivers to my two - they both get mild SI. I have found they are not itching anywhere near as much as last year - and they still have the same routine, other supplements etc.

I have heard they are a good detox as well - I get mine from Feedmark.
