Hello my mare I think has had lymphangitis for a very long time now. Just wondering what kind of things people do to keep swelling down? Or if anyone uses creams? Or what things you use to help?

Thank you

Well the vet had said about 2 years ago that she had it once. But she also gets mud fever which I thought that was all it was but she isn't going out in the field at and hasn't for a long time. She gets swollen back legs (once the swelling went all the way up to her udders) she has scabby patches on her back legs that are weeping and she itches them quite a lot to the point where they bleed sometimes. I try and keep them as clean as I can and she does wear bandages most nights to try and help the swollen legs plus with the cold nights as well (which people have recommended before)

Vet needs to see her, she may need antibiotics.

Horses can still get mites if they don't have feathers - it's just less common.

My horse has had lymphangitis a couple of times now; keeping him out as much as possible helps immensely, as does feeding a mineral balancer (I use Forage Plus), which I discovered by accident.

It needs taking seriously, so please give your vet a call. You never know, it might be a really simple fix. Good luck.
