M and m class with section b

Hello, I'm taking my welsh section b to a mountain and moorland class at a local show. Because I'm also jumping my young horse I was going to wear my navy show jacket would this be acceptable in the m and m class? Also my section b has a fairly long mane, does this need pulling to a much shorter length or just tidying up? Many thanks in advance.
 
no you need to be in tweed with a pastel shirt and tie. Dress for the showing and jump in that too.

regarding mane, it depends how long is long really ;), manes in welshies is always about the neck looking its best.
 
Ok thanks and his mane just about reaches the bottom of his neck so would it be best to just tidy it up or does he need it chopping off a bit? Many thanks.

Not Welshies, Newfies or Connies! They are all pulled or trimmed in some way shape or form! It's just the real hairies that aren't massively touched - the Fells, Dales, Highlands, Dartmoors, Exmoors and Shetlands beyond a beard trim.

B's get away with their manes slightly longer than other welsh. Tweeds always.

Well in the show classes I took my Welsh A all the welsh A&B were left natural

The current trend is for longer than it was I think, it seems to go in waves but as I said, is also dependent on what looks best, Frank looks much better pulled than super long as it once was.

friend's C looks better longer just because of his build.

And don't ever trim a beard on a Dales or Fell if going under breed judges, very frowned on!
 
The idea is to pull the mane, but artfully so it doesn't look like its been pulled, and not in a dead straight line. Also you need short boots.
But if its local just have fun.
 
Mane and tail natural, but tidy. I always trimmed chin/beard and took whiskers off.

You'll need tweed and a light shirt plus dark tie.
 
Take a look at the Equinational and ES Photography who are doing Royal Windsor this week and you will see how the professional turn their ponies out. Welsh Bs should have their manes pulled to around 8 inches or so and the tops of their tails tidied to show off their quarters well. I personally ever so slightly thin the heels, tidy up behind the knees, clip out under the jaw and the ear fluff. You should always wear tweed. Not sure if you were riding but ridden you should wear joddy boots, any coloured shirt and tie and hair neat and tidy under pref a blue velvet hat. Minimal brown leather tack - no colour, white or bling! In hand the same but trousers and shoes you can run in. I personally think it looks a bit rubbish to do in hand in riding clothes (bottom half ...)
