Firstly, huge thanks to nikki_07766, who came along and was an absolute star all day, a huge help, HHO comes up trumps again!

Princess Katy here. Been to another of those Horse Trials and Tribulations things. I have a sore corner of my mouth so i was NOT in the mood for dressage and i warmed up "like a giraffe on speed" according to mummy, i did 55 minutes with my head stuck in the air, which i was quite proud of. I got a bit tired though and gave in at the last minute and did a quite nice test, even got a few 7s, which mummy says i didn't deserve. then i was even more upset about my mouth for jumping, and my curb chain rubbed my chin sore too

so i was throwing my head about and rushing and not looking at the fences and had 4 down with my back legs. mummy was philosophical. then i warmed up for the exciting bit, but it hailed really hard and i hated it, but mummy made me keep trotting around anyway, the cow... everyone else got to stand still with their bums to it.

my mouth was still sore so mummy had decided to just canter around off the bridle, i wasn't having any of that though, when she saw a nice quiet stride to the first i took a stride out.

wheee, that was more like it. then we agreed on a nice medium pace the whole way around, i didn't give her heart failure anywhere else, i found it easypeasylemonsqueezy except for the 3 steps up, they were quite an effort because i don't know how to use my back or something... don't know what she's going on about, she was sitting on it and trust me, it was hard enough work! anyway, i didn't get a rosette, obviously, but she was chuffed to bits with my cross-country round and says i definitely need it bigger.

Prince James here. i was up first for dressage, and due to us getting lost in the horsebox AGAIN i only had 20 mins warm up, which was not enough at all, so i was still being a bit of a prat when we went in. the judge gave me horrible marks, much worse than last time even though i was much better behaved, can't work that one out.

then on to show-jumping, much bigger than last time, but i jumped my little socks off and didn't touch one! yay! then got to go cross-country, it was my first PN but i loved it, didn't give mummy an anxious moment at all, she kept telling me i was a good boy all the way round, and i was even brave and went into the water with my ears pricked. i found the 3 steps up hard work too, but the rest was all easy, and i finished on my dressage score, but unfortunately it was too rubbish for me to get a rosette. boo.

so, all in all, a pretty good day... Katy's showjumping controllability definitely needs even more work though!
there were 3 or 4 fences on the PN course that used to be N... so, quite a decent course really, i thought.
cookies and polos if you got this far!

Well done to the their highnesses - sounds like pretty good fun apart from the hail (I was in the conservatory when it hailed here and it sounded like warzone

Well done, they are doing well.

Trying to remember the Lucinda trick for split mouths.

Thing you get a bandage soaked in alum and wrap an old bit in it. Put it on horse for couple of hours a day in stable.

Piles crean is also good for split mouths.

Double check the bandage thig to make sure it is alum

Well done PJ and PK...in conditions like that its hard to get a fab dressage test which puts you on a back foot for the rest of the day. Great XC on both though which is something to be pleased with

Well done all three of you! Those steps are a huge pull up aren't they? I didn't envy you competing in that weather; at least at Keysoe you'll be jumping on a surface, and iiir they had put some of their old arena surface around the xc course, so it should ride well.

What is making Katy's mouth sore, is it just pulling too hard?

yes, i'm positive it is. have been putting Eliz Arden 8 hour cream on it. should heal it very fast hopefully, and she'll be in a hackamore for a few days, which should be interesting! thinking of trying her in a german hackamore for sj too, and bought a wilkie snaffle yesterday to try, see if a bit of poll pressure but no chin pressure helps. she's a total nightmare in the sj, tbh, almost uncontrollable.
thanks for the nice comments everyone!

Very good results for the ponies, especially PJ, who sounds terribly clever. Hopefully PK will maybe pay some more attention to u soon!!!

I had this discussion with my trainer this morning, we are trying Sov with a bit and a hackamore together for SJ, he has an old jaw injury which I think is bothering him slightly. Fingers crossed you find a solution.

TripleSandH, i didn't see it until after the dressage, she probably did it warming up for the dressage tbh because she was being ridiculous the whole time and i had to pull her up quite sharply twice to stop her running off with me. thanks for that though.
