M&M - how long should the mane be on a sec A?

Just about to start 'tidying' my sec A's mane in preparation for a M&M class at the weekend - it's the first we've done and I'm not sure how much to take off - obviously discreetly!

On vids I've seen them quite short - obviously they must do plaited classes too - so I don't want to stand out too much!

It often depends how much neck they have.

If the neck is week I would go short, not much longer than plaiting lengh.

She has quite a strong neck, if anything a little on the cresty side - should I keep it on the longer side?

Her tail is touching the ground but I'm going to shape it a little.
