Planning and preparing for my daughter's first season with her Welsh Section A pony. Obviously she could do the M&M class, but I was wondering if she could be plaited and taken in the show hunter pony classes instead? As a child i always had horses to ride, so this was never an issue and I am clueless regarding the pony classes!
This is her and she's lost a bit of weight since the photo!
Many thanks.

I don't really know much about showing but looking at your pony (who is very cute by the way) I think she would probably do better in M&M classes as a lot of the show hunter ponies seem to be much finer types. Hope this helps

Definately go for M&M. Apart from the very valid reason that Walrus gives about plaiting, you'll find the show hunter ponies are much finer than your little one. The purebred welshies that do well in show hunter tend to be a little too fine for the m&m classes :)

if she is registered welsh then i would stick to m&m, if not some local shows may have m&m classes for unregistered but most will restrict it to just registered ponies.

if she got nice and fit and lost some weight i think she could do ok in shp, some of the little ones are very chunky, so thats an option if she is not registered :)

I agree with this, I think that maybe the other posters are confusing show pony and show hunters, in my opinion she would look ok in a 12hh SHP class. I don't know where abouts you are but lots of the showing people do clinics and training sessions, so even if you aren't going to go overboard, at least you will be correct, confident and competent. I can highly recommend Katy Carter as being excellent with little people and ponies.

Thank you for your help... she's not registered unfortunately. She's had an hour out at grass today and looks rather fat again already:mad:... better get to work on her fitness me thinks:rolleyes:!
Thanks again.
