Ok, never really done any M&M showing before, but going to have to take mine out and about to get them used to it, but I am a little confused as to how to show them.

I thought you were not supposed to trim them at all, but all the section Bs I see seem to have really short manes, which is correct? Help

I have a welsh A with a huge mane, and will shortly have a welsh B with a very long mane, but she is very fine and it just looks silly tbh, so should I pull it? and if so how short?

Thanks

Current fashion for Welsh breeds seems to be a very short trimmed mane that almost looks like it's cut with scissors - personally I think it's not at all flattering :s Stallions and flashy mares often look better with a longer mane, geldings a bit shorter, but it's all down to the individual pony and your preference. If your sec B is very fine I'd pull and thin her mane a little into a shorter but still natural shape, whatever length flatters her head and neck. It's taken me months to find a length for my Welsh D's mane that I'm happy with, I always forget that in trot the mane and tail will lift and look shorter and have finally learnt to leave an inch or so leeway!

He looks about perfect. you also ave to do a little plait in the last bit of his mane, next to his face to clear and show off his jaw line. This should be left long and not rolled or anything!

Aww, what a cutie!

Personally I'd shorten and thin it a bit too, that way you can see him a bit better and it will lay more neatly. He looks like he might have quite a big neck under there? If so you def don't want it too short, I can't work out photos yet otherwise I'd alter yours to show you but if you look at his very longest length, personally I'd take it up a third shorter, so kind of just between his eye and noseband on the photo, take a line down following the line of his neck - hope that makes sense!

It does annoy me that I keep all my natives (2 NFs and a Welshie) all natural. Then you go to shows, local and county, and they all have pulled manes!

They should be marked down
