Can anyone tell me what happens in Native ridden classes, please? Specifically if you have to dismount, unpack, trot up etc. Is it something a disabled rider (mobility problems) would be able to do?

Also what does Native workers consist of?

Thanks

Depending on what level you are showing at, the judge may well want to strip the class - so you all do a go round at walk trot canter, then line up and do individual shows, then take saddle off and trot up in front of the judge one at a time. When you take the saddle off you are typically allowed a helper into the ring at that point, so I would imagine that as long as you asked the judge and steward in advance, it might be ok for the helper to trot the pony up instead of the rider.

Native workers - all go in individually to jump a round, then usually clear rounds go back in and do the show part, which is similar to the above. So the same might apply re the trot up.

I do M&Ms with my Exmoors and we always strip in the ridden flatwork classes - you do a group go around in walk trot canter (usually both reins) then the judge calls the line up in one by one in his preferred order. At this point you do your individual shows in the order that you are pulled in and once everyone has completed their individual shows, you then show your pony without its saddle on (stand up for the judge so they can check conformation) then walk away from the judge in a straight line, turn and trot straight back towards the judge and carry on past the judge and round to the back of the line up. You then put your saddle back on and when the judge has seen everyone, he may then ask the group to walk on if he wants to consider his final decision. The class is then pulled in one by one into final placings.
Good luck!!

I went to an m&m class on Sunday and we had to walk, trot canter on each rein and show an extended canter/gallop. We also stripped for a trot up. I've always had to strip for a trot up at county shows too but you can get a groom to do the trot up for you if you as the judge/ steward on entry to the ring. The class I did on Sunday btw was a local show.

You can have your groom trot up your pony when stripped but you must ask the steward or judge for permission and the grrom must be well dressed for the part.

I've helped a friend at County level. I was just the groom/helper. Everyone had one and we went in and stripped the horse, passed a cloth over the horse (and rider's boots lol). Can't see why anyone would have an issue with you having someone to do the tack.

Thanks everyone, no plans at moment but if pony share is successful I'm hoping to get myself a native so looking around to see what options are open to me competing-wise outside the RDA.

M&M workers is based on height of pony and can be 3ft3 at top height! Loads of dressage with a final at Addington. Yes agree re county showing groom can run up for you no problem!
