My lovely Welsh D has qualified for the NPS M&M Working hunter finals at Blair this year. Having not got this far before I am wondering what is expected in terms of the bridle he wears?? He qualified in a pelham as I thought the judges would want to see him in something like this, but actually he goes just as nicely in a snaffle. Is the pelham necessary for 'looks' or is the snaffle just as acceptable.

Will they be stripped for an in-hand trot up too?

Any advice for such tragic novice, gratefully received!!

Ponies have won at Blair in snaffle before. In Workers the bit isn't as much of a deciding factor as it is in flat classes so go in whatever your pony goes best in. I do think you strip and trot up as well so go prepared for this anyway and good luck!

If he goes nicely in the snaffle then I would stick with that.
When I used to do WH (often M+M WH) I would take my pony in a snaffle, cavesson and no martingale and a lot of the judges appreciated the simplicity of it.

Good luck and get pictures! :D
