Hi, I'm looking to enter my Welsh D Gelding who is around 14.2 in some working hunter classes next show season. I was wondering if anyone knew, or had any experience of entering these classes and knows the average height or the biggest fence my horse may be faced with. I was also wondering if anyone had any tips when entering these classes as I'm new to the working hunter scene. Thanks! :)

HOYS qualifiers it is 100cm in the qualifying and 105cm for the final I think. for all over 143cm
generally local and slightly lower level can be almost anything up to a max of 100cm
the rules state that the course will be up to 100cm but I must admit most of the qualifiers we have been to have been full up
Always rustic or white fences and some pretty fun things the las ones were planks between two tractors and had cows, pigs, sheep and dogs dotted around the arena They caused a stir

Probably depends what level you do, I used to do M&M workers on my Welsh D just up to county level and it was always 1m. I've never done the qualifiers for the big stuff but I would assume its still about the same?

NPS classes are max 2ft9 for novice, max 3ft for intermediate and max 3ft3 for opens including royal international qualifiers. Think bsps are similar.

Local level seem to vary a lot from my experience from 2ft3 upwards.
