This definitely happens. Vet asked if there was any chance she had eaten something she hadn't and I thought who on earth has a dog that can answer that with a definitive no!If Mabel is anything like most of the bitches I've owned/owns, there's probably a bit of hare/rabbit poop, and other similar natural treats, which slinks down without you/your OH noticing it while she's sniffing around in bushes.
Mabel has now eaten a whole chicken breast (in small doses with an hour or so in between to make sure she doesn't react) and announced to the entire neighbourhood through a chorus of barking that she is back in business. OH said she wasn't her usual zoomy independent self on their walk and had zero interest in going in the water so she obviously is still feeling a bit delicate but she's eating, pooing, drinking and chasing Teddy which is good enough for me!
