Well we've done it! Had our coffee morning for MacMillan Cancer Support and raised over £211.00. This is £45 more than I raised last time on my previous project which had more staff and more operatives. I was convinced that the team were being extremely complacent in regards to the coffee morning when I first suggested it and I had many sleepless nights worrying that we'd end up with no food and a lot of hungry people. Luckily the Project Manager gee'd everyone up and the effort that people went to took my breathe away. We have a brilliant team and I am so proud of everyone.
I did it in memory of all those affected by cancer and also did a cheeky mention to my Dad who passed away from Prostrate Cancer that had metastasised to his bones. He was the best Dad ever and I miss him so very much. Although he was 84 if the cancer hadn't nabbed him he would have lived to at least 94 as he was so well both physically and mentally. I know that had he been alive now I would have emailed him with the photos I took earlier and he would have said his usual line "they don't pay you enough"!
We had everything from pork pies and sausage rolls to samosas to sponges, cupcakes, brownies, flapjacks, cookies, chocolate cake and an amazing lemon drizzle! So many people baked cakes (or should I say got their other halves or Mums to bake for them lol) and some including myself bought in cakes and savouries.
The thing that went down the quickest ........Samosas. At £1.00 per giant vegtable samosa they went like hot cakes. And a rather nice homemade Victoria Sponge with loads of cream and strawberry jam went very quickly as well. The brownies that I thought everyone loved are still left over. I've stuffed myself with cake and took some home for the o/h - I'm going the gym later so will seriously need to burn it off!
Good luck for those who are having their Coffee Morning on Friday. I wish you well!
