Mad Horse HELP ME PLEASE !!!! ?????????!

Nevertheless, don't wreck this pony, if you want to become a jockey you have to learn horsemanship, you were not really clear about what you are doing with him, surely you know enough to know when he can hear a few excited ponies in the distance. I have never known anyone have 3 / 4 lessons per week with an instructor, even allowing for your age, you need a reality check:), it is a lot easier to ruin a pony than it is to improve it and if you want to be taken seriously as a jockey you have to be reliable and sensible in addition to being able to stay on board.

This ^^^^ - and the trick to getting the answers you need from a forum is to take them all on board, evaluate them honestly and consider whether all or any of them might have a point.

I go to boarding school and I am forced to have 4 lessons a week it counts as an activity and every horse rider in the school does it ! I have 2 ponies - Olaf -4 3/4 and I also own a welsh section a called bay ax who is also 4 I do not wish to race Olaf as we mainly do dressage with some eventing every other week I wish to race my nutty welsh 4 year old x

My apologies.

Are your parents horsey? Try talking to them about your concerns. If your Instructor at school isn't helping you, I think you need help from your mum and dad

She goes to boarding school and yet her grammar, puntuation and language skills leave a lot to be desired. I think this is a troll if ever I saw one. Obviously someone with too much time on their hands.

And since when have 12 year olds used feet and inches as a form of measurement??

You get trolls on here who ask horse questions?! Not sure about the OP but I wouldn't be surprised to find a boarding school kid with bad grammar and a useless instructor... But I would be very surprised to find trolls as pathetic as that.

As someone who's previously attended a boarding school with it's own riding school, I'd advise against assuming that they all know what they're doing. I've also met a few too many school-based RS teachers whose 'dressage' instruction goes as far as 'get the head down/get the horse round' and who seem to fire kids around jump courses far larger than they should be doing (based on the lack of balance/control that they have over their horses).

Just ask Caroline Colwill for her help instead. She runs the riding school where your horse is based. Can she not help you?

Huh? What are they supposed to use? I used feet and inches all the time at that age.

Well sorry SA but I suspect thats because it was a long time ago when you were 12.

These days its more common to use metres and cms, although I prefer feet and inches. This is called the metric system of measurement. A formal policy was agreed in government in 1965, but until 1980 the old form of feet and inches was used in the UK, and I believe still taught in schools. In 2004 schools changed and were obliged under british law to teach a new generation of school children in metres/cms, and in 2009 the use of llbs and oz to weigh things were abolished in shops.

If you are genuine in your post I think you need to talk to your parents and explain that having 2 x 4 year old ponies at school is unsuitable as you do not get the help and support you need to bring them on properly. they need to sell them and get you a proper schoolmaster pony that will help to teach you to ride and keep you safe. Let's be honest, there's little point in giving you a good education if you are going to fall off a pony, hurt yourself and then possibly miss weeks of school.
Also , at my school we do learn centimetres and metres , but I choose to use feet and inches !

Well search the royal hospital school Suffolk ---

I don't know if this is a real enquiry or not, but either way you have now signposted a school, named a person who you do not seem to rate, and given the names of your ponies.

This is a very public forum, and you have given your identity if this is real. If this is not real then the people could still be upset and contact HHO to see about finding your identity.

Nothing wrong with asking for advice, but be aware that the thread will be here forever, and now you have named the school you attend and a person be careful to be factual, and consider people's feelings.

Does HHO have an age limit for posters?
