the lovely horse that I've had on loan for 4 months is going back

He's such a lovely a horse and I have grown attached to him, but he's just too much for me. Now I've got him fit he's turned into a bit of an arrogant boy! None of it is nasty but I just don't feel safe.

Feeling a bit down as I feel I just don't seem to get any luck......

Saying that, the horse I was doing 'how much' on yesterday is a horse that's been on my yard for 9 months - and I've just been told he's for sale. Taking it slowly but he seems that maybe he might be a good bet for me....

Just scared of making a wrong decision again....maybe I should just give up!

Don't give up!

You will regret it even more in the long run if you give up! Trust me!

Unfortunately I'm a pig headed bitch and can't see myself giving up!

It's weird but I haven't felt safe on a horse for a long time and I kind of do on this other horse......still getting to know him. Picked up a whip off the side and the poor bugger nearly had heart attack - and he's not spooky. spent 10 mins getting on him with the whip but think he's starting to trust me.....time will tell I guess.

think the big test will be taking him to Epsom Downs on sunday....will I survive? haa haa

If you'd of seen his bed this morning you wouldn't be saying that!!

Sounds so much like me before I bought Monty.

As much as I love D he didn't do my confidence any good so when I started looking for another horse I looked at cobs. I love TBs but I wanted that safe feeling but after trying 4/5 different cobs I decided that I didn't feel right on them.
I bought Monty after the owner led me round on him then I went off for a walk and trot but because I felt right and he felt safe I said 'yep, I'll have him' Must of been mad really

It sounds like you are going about things the right way by taking your time and trying him out

Good luck and don't forget PICCIES and keep me posted

Hurrah for pig headedness!

Seriously, if you feel safe on this other horse, and he ticks the boxes... then he must be worth having a good think about.

You hopefully know about his past history - does that sound like he could be the right horse for you?

He jumps, isn't spooky on hacks and with a bit of work should school quite nicely. TBH I'm not relaly into dressage but he has to start listening! I've been riding him since Sunday and it's going well so far. Have a lesson on him on Saturday and taking him to the gallops on Sunday with another TB so if I survive that then I think he could be ok

oooo - thanks guys for the comments. Had a lesson on him and he went really well - was jumping big but then when I remembered to fix my lower leg, sit back and bring my hands up he was fine ;-)

Then took him out on his own to cool down - spooky but generally good....just kept my legs on!

So last test tomorrow - Epsom Downs - wish me luck!
