Made a decision about my mare

There is obviously something seriously wrong with your mare, even if the vet can't tell you what it is. I wouldn't be surprised if, if you kept on trying, you would have to have her pts in an emergency before too long.
I think you are making the right decision, I'd always choose quality of life, over quantity.

Thank you all

The (lovely) liveries on the yard have said the same - how long can i honesly keep going...winters coming and its going to be a bad one - she does look miserable already so i believe its the right time to let her go

Ive spoken to my vet who is calling me back to discuss arrangements etc...

I have sorted a place for my pony at a retirement home with a bunch of mares :) lady sounds lovely and i was trying so hard not to cry down the phone as its so hard thinking its for onehorse not two.

im organising transport to take my pony away proably before B is pts... i will just spend some time with her alone which is what she used to love.

Not ideal for pony but logistics and the fact im not sure if babypony will load quickly mean this is probably the best option. Also the fact i dont want to be there when they take the body away means id like to leave after the deed has been done.

Babypony is goig for 18 months + at the grass livery place - until shes ready to be broken or sold...depends how i feel. Shes a very sellable pony (once 3/4)!, or will be exactly what i want to ride....its too diffcult to make more decisions right now - so instead of seling im sending her away.

x

So sorry its come to this but you are doing the right thing IMO.
Sometimes you just can't get them right and then this is the kindest thing.

I remember your previous threads too. You have tried your very best for your mare, noone can fault you for making the hardest kindest decision. Hugs to you. Xxxx

Thank you

Im focusing on my other little mares moving to keep my mind occupied - i still need to sort things out - like current yard/ and selling most of our belongings :( which im in no rush to dobut i know it has to be done....

just want it over now...its been months into making this decision and weeks coming o terms with it....i want her to go to sleep peacefully x

Very sorry to read this but although its hard you are doing the best thing for her :( can I suggest you gat all your stuff from the yard home as soon as you can so you have less time to be there after she has gone as its often very hard to go back to a place that should have your horses there and find their field or stable empty. if your stuff is at home or sold before she goes it may be easier for you afterwards.

thanks crabbymare - i cant though as i rent a field i have electric tape etc there to keep bratty pony in!

i dont mind so much going back for that after....i will leave/gift my feed and tools to people i know (if they want them...) as i have no furter use for them for at least 18 months.

I will put my saddle up for sale soon though as it wont be suitable for the youngster anyhow as its a dressage and shes a jumping pony. that will hurt moe than going back to the yard to be honest.... took me 12 months to save up for that.
