I recently bought a saddle cloth in a weird shade of orange and because I couldn't find bandages to match in that shade, I thought i'll make my own :) Well the fleece fabric arrived, and despite me asking for lots of photos of it to confirm that its the right shade, it arrived a lot more orange than the one I was looking for! I do want a bright orange set so I just kept the fabric, and have now made my bandages :D But now i'm still stuck with two incomplete sets :o So, if anyone knows of anyone or anywhere that is selling an orange saddle cloth (new or used), please let me know :D Also, if anyone can help me find the right shade of orange fleece to match my saddle cloth that would be lovely, because I have spent hours and hours looking for it and just cannot find them :(
Or maybe anyone has ideas as to how to customise the saddlecloth I have to make it match my orange bandages, I do have lots of the fleece spare so could possibly use that somehow:D
Any ideas welcome :D
Here's the saddle cloth and bandages and as you can see, they are far from matching (bandages are not as red as they appear in this picture) :(

ETA: this is more the sort of orange that the bandages are: http://images2.layoutsparks.com/1/168694/happy-halloween-orange-colour.jpg

Cut another couple of strips of the fleece, same width as the bandages, and stitch to the numnah as stripes. You could go diagonally like Eskadron or vertically or hortizontally:D

It might just be the light but it looks like your saddle cloth is more a mustard colour than orange I googled mustard fleece and it came up with some the same colour, but I wasn't sure if it was the light making it look that colour might be worth a look :D

Nope, all of them are too orange lol, you see that is my problem! :/
I may try putting on stripes of the orange fleece on the current saddle cloth and see what that looks like :)

I have had a look, and its the closest that I have found so far but the mustard ones are more like a dirty yellow type of thing, the light makes it look a bit too yellow and too dirty, but its got a bit of orange in it.

I know this isn't very helpful but that is the exact colour of my OHs van I call it bananavan lol and ford say its saffron yellow I know not really helpful :D

Your best bet maybe to do as others have said and jazz up your saddle cloth with the left over fabric xx

Hahah, I think it is a lovely colour, and I really really like it but I just didn't think before I bought it, and now am stuck with a saddle cloth and no matching bandages, and I know this is silly but I have recently decided that I will stop buying random un matchy matchy things because I love matchy stuff but I buy ''bargains'' and then can't find anything to match those bargains! :D
I'll have to have a go with jazzing up the saddle cloth.
Now another dilemma, which way do I do the stripes, vertical, horizontal or diagonal?! :D

Thank you! They are very very easy to make, the hardest part is probably cutting the fabric more or less straight! The downside is that you need 3metres of the fabric (for horses, for ponies its 2.5m), but it has to be all continuous piece of fabric so it makes it more expensive as you can only really get rolls that are 150cm wide, but you only need 40cm width but 3m long! So you are paying for a lot more fabric than you need, but you can make 4 sets of bandages from them :D
I used this manual to make them, she describes it in simple terms:
http://diydressage.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/tutorial-how-to-make-your-own-polo.html
I just used Velcro from ebay to fasten them, you can get loads and loads of different colours so you can get Velcro to match the colour of your bandages :)
I don't currently have a sewing machine so it took me a lot longer than it should as I had to stich the ends and velcro by hand :)
I will be making more definitely, you can always make other stuff out of the spare fabric, or make all of the 4 sets and just give them to friends or sell them to pay for the fabric :)
Another plus, you can have loads of different funky patterned bandages! :)

Right, I've just pinned the fabric on, as I don't think I can do it neatly enough by hand so will have to find someone with a sewing machine to do this for me, but, what do you think?

I think I like it too, but until its all nice and neat, I won't be able to tell :D that's really kind of you but i'm in Lincolnshire and I can see that you're up in Scotland so a looong way away :D but thanks anyway :)

That looks really good!

Another option could be to put the fleece just over the corner you can see under the saddle, where your bottom right stripe is but all the way to the corner. You can then get names embroidered onto it xx

That's a good idea, if I had a normal saddle then it would look really good, but I have the total contact saddle so a lot of the saddle cloth is visible, so it will look a bit strange I think :)
I think i'll sew on the stripes like that, I do quite like it and I think it'll look quite striking with the bandages, on a grey :)
Next mission, find a sewing machine that I can use or someone with a sewing machine who won't mind doing this little job for me :p :D

Problem is looking for things online, depending on the screen things look totally different.

I've edited pics on my lappy that look different colours on my phone and different on my tablet. maybe take a bandage or a slither of fleece with you and try in store then search the internet for the product cheaper?

Thank you for offering though :) I've posted on facebook asking for some help with it, if all else fails, I will buy a sewing machine, I want to do some more sewing anyway so I will have to eventually buy one wither way :) I just really want to try on the set on my mare this weekend, but I may just have to be a bit more patient :)
Next set will be a lime green one :D
