Im Looking to get a tweed jacket made for next season - can anyone recommend a supplier ? I had my show jumping jacket made by equiport and will go to them if I cant find anyone else but it was £350 and took 2 months! I have to get made to measure as I have long arms and a large chest ( im not a monkey though ! )
Ideas pls

There are half a dozen jacket manunfacturers at Olympia. Personally, I prefer the AJ ones, they have a great selection of cloth in many different weights of material. They are usually pretty quick as well.

I visited the Alexander James stand at Bramham, and I was very unimpressed. The guy manning it was totally useless, and uninterested in selling his product. I was perfectly prepared to pay them lots of cash for a made to measure jacket, but ended up going round the corner to Colnes Valley I think and buying an off the peg Mears one which is gorgeous.

Was a pity!

What a shame. They are usually very good (and patient) and I have spent hours trying on different sizes, styles, colours and then buying one and taking it back within half an hour to swap for a different one (it is the one thing that I am not very good at making my mind up when choosing a tweed!)

Was possibly just this particular chap then. Was quite tall but plump if that makes sense.
He was totally uninterested once he had got out the swatch books, would rather read his novel than be of any help, and the stand wasn't busy (far from it).

I am glad to hear that they are normally much better than that!!
