my old mare had blacksmith today and she has had abcess which has obviosuly bust inside and burst this morning all is clean inside but has tiny maggots inside which have obvisouly eaten away all bad spoke to vet who said it has most likely done her a favour eating away all bad and is actually clean - - farrier said put peroxide in it to kill them is there anything else i can put on it - they are very small maggots

the peroxide will prob do the job especially if they are small would have quicker effect i would imagine????????????????

yeh they are very very small so hopefully will all be dead by morning poor old lady - vet said nothing to worry about really but call if doesnt get any better

We have had this under my mares pads!! The peroxide works well, also vet said coopers fly spary, or we tried virkon in a foot bath!!

i will try to fly spray - but foot bath she wont let me wash he legs never mind put it in a foot bath jeez death wish there

The best thing to kill maggots in a wound, is an ivermectin wormer, like Eqvalan. Just squidge it in over the maggots and it kills them off without damaging healthy tissue, which peroxide will.

sheep foot rot spray.....brilliant stuff for horse's feet!!

Peroxide will get rid of the little monsters in a flash

I think the proper purple spray will get them as well.

tea tree oil or sheep antiseptic foot spray!
