HGs VIEW OF THE DAY!!
Magic Bum Mat and his Entourage (AP, HG, Law and Helen!) went to Hartpury College today for BSJA...
Magic Bum told everyone that we had to be there at 12 oclock, so he rings me at 11.30ish, calls me some very rude names and then says he's just arrived (with half of his Entourage) and they aren't even half way through the British Novice and we were there for the Newcomers!!
Law and I dawdled round to Hartpury... all of the 8 minute drive... we get there and the car park is over flowing so we have to park miles away from the arena and walk up a very steep grassy bank... we go into the arena to find Magic Bum eating his usual 3 egg and bacon baps (his lunch!) and we all watch the end of the British Novice...
Anyway as we were there sooooooooo early (thanks Magic Bum!
) we decide to enter the Discovery as well as the Newcomers!! We go to put our number on the board and Magic Bum is 70th to go in Discovery!!
So we go and watch the first 15 or so horses, go and check the board, still plenty of time, go back watch a few more horses and then they put out a 3 minute warning that they are going to finish the class if no ones turn up to jump... so we all rush off and get Cordy ready, get back to the warm up start warming up and they were taking people has they were ready so we did some jumps and went to the board to say we were ready and it was a different person on the board and they had gone back to jumping in order again... this make HG and Magic Bum a little narky because there is 2 columns of numbers before us
Anyway AP and I stood with Cordy in the corner, whilst Magic Bum went and watched a few more and got over his minor tantrum at the collecting ring steward...
and finally turns back up with a few to go before him, he hops on goes down to the bottom warm up and eventually jumps (around 4 oclock) jumps a beautiful double clear
with only one kamakaze moment when Cordy decided that 3 strides were plenty to put in a 4 stride related distance, causing everyone in the stadium to gasp and the gate steward to screech!! But Magic Bum must have had his super glue because he wasn't even unseated a little... anyway he was last to go in the Discovery and finished 2nd!!
Anyway Magic Bum and Cordy were 29th to go in the Newcomers, so Magic Bum took a break and ate another 3 bacon and egg baps!!! So we went back to get Cordy and AP wasn't about, so I had to give Magic Bum his leg up onto Cordy... he wasn't impressed with my leg up... apparently I sent him too high into the air and he almost went over the top!!
some people are never satisfied!!
So we warmed up with no hitches this time (except for HG having to take her life into her hands to do the warm up fences for Magic Bum!), went down and they jumped another beautiful round... still made the crowd gasp by doing 3 strides down the 4 stride related distance but unfortunately Cordy just left a toe on the wavy planks so finsihed on 4 faults... but we were all very pleased with her
Anyway we wer in 4th place at that time so we put Cords away and went back to watch... Magic Bum then proceeded to eat another 3 bacon and egg baps and a hot chocolate (spiked with Dr Pepper that he didn't even notice!!) and we waited for the class to finsh and we were VERY pleased to find we had finished joint 7th
So we all finally left at nearing 7pm when they were just starting class 4
