Magic Calmer? any good?

i dont think this is a problem? shes in more cause the weather ect and riden less cause the indoors busy so shes a bit more excitable then usal which results in her being strong too, which is a pain when you are schooling (: thanks

Out of ones I have tried in the past I find Magic Powder (not the one time ones, didn't find that worked) and Equine America's Magnitude work the best.
If i need to use a calmer again this winter I will be buying Magnitude.

Have tried the magnesium based ones with no success.I have used tryptophan calmers with success.Tryptophan helps increase seratonin levels.Equine America So Kalm has both Tryptophan and magnesium have used this and found it definitely took edge off warmblood mare.Have tried Good as Gold which also worked.
Top spec calmer (£22.99) has much same ingredients as EA So Kalm(£35.99) so am changing to that.
It is a case of different things work for different horses tho.None of the above worked on daughter's pony.

i have used horse first relaxme and found it worked great.

This is working well on a friends horse, didn't seem to effect mine...

The only think I have found that works is EquiFirst Cool, Calm and Collected and they have the most amazing after sales service including advise and samples to ensure you get the best calming product for your horse.

I think it's trial and error for each individual horse...

i was recomended to use the top spec calmer by my old instructor and it really did work for the time that i had my horse on it. my friend tryed magic and it didnt help at all for her horse so changed to top stec which he is still on today. :)

What sort of feed is your hoss on this winter? May be worth re-assessing if she is being kept in and becoming fizzy/strong. :)

I've tried a number of calmers with ZERO results. The best one that definately helps my mare (and isn't actually a "calmer" as such) is Oxyshot. It's very expensive, but definately works... although i just use mine before we compete, so i don't think it would be worth the money to use everytime you hop on for a ride.

Going back to the feeds, maybe try cutting out anything too heating/sugary in her diet. :)
