So there I am today merrily waiting for 5pm to come, so that I can leave work, then mum phones at 4.45, to say that my yearling has escaped from the field (only into another of our fields so she wasn't in any danger as such). I had asked mum to go and check on her a couple of times today, becuase it was supposed to be raining I had put a very lightweight turnout rug on her for the first time today - so I wanted mum to check she was ok - and also this is only the 3rd day since george arrived - so still making sure that they are being friendly with each other!
Anywho - so I rushed home from work thinking that I was going to find legs hanging and all sorts, only to find yearling in stable happy munching hay, and George up in the school being an angel.
The gate is absolutely mangled, with the top bar completely missing (it is about a million years old already, and was looking a bit pooped before hand). Now this is a full size wooden gate, and it is up hill - quite steep. I don't know how big it is jumping it from downhill - but I wouldn't want to be jumping it - but it does look like my dear yearling has jumped out!
Even if she jumped it after the top rail was broken its still fair big enough for her babyness!
And best of all she hasn't got a mark on her!
I don't know how she's done it - but I hope her jumping success will be longlived - but just maybe not over any more gates!!! I have had a chat to her about not jumping any more gates without me present to supervise....
I'm not sure she was paying attention though.....
Alls well that ends well - but could have been awful though...
Oh and while Flo was happily coming up to the stables, George bless him was calling to her, but just waiting down by said broken gate.... Bless him!!!
Sorry a bit pointless, but I'm just happy they are all still in one piece!
