Scarlett pone is a nervy little lady, she spooks easily at things on the ground and ridden, she's had a very nasty past with abuse in the form of beatings and whipped around the head and ears.

We have basically let her settle in and find her feet for the last 4+ months, she's a ****** to catch too, so spent time working on this and just getting her used to us.

Looking at trying a calmer, just to take the edge off her nerves in the hope that we can work with her without her stressing quite so much about new things.

Anyone used the Magic and how did you find it? Looking at liquid as it would work quicker than powder, although I am open to trying anything.

Hiya, iv just started using it in the last few days, the mare I'm using it on is very stressy also nightmare to catch and very spooky!
2 days in and she walked up to me in the field, I lunged her and usually do not need a lunge whip as she's very forward going, but I wish is had one! She was so calm!! She seems so much happier in herself it can't be nice feeling anxious all the time, but I'd definitely recommend it!!

Spose different things work for different horses. Magic had no affect on my boy whatsoever powder or liquid. But put him on global herbs super kalm and he is literally a different horse swear by the stuff!!

Just be aware that calmers based on magnesium usually only work if the horse is deficient in magnesium in the first place. Some horses can have a severe reaction to it and go completely loopy!

I personally agree with SJ123, my boy is on Global Herbs Supercalm, and it has worked wonders, just seems to give him a bit more time to actually think before he reacts to something - quite often now he decides it's not worth bothering reacting to.

You might need to try a few different calmers before you find the one that suits your pony, SuperCalm didn't do anything for my friends horse, but he responded well to James Hart's V-Calm, however it's valerian based, so not legal for use in competitions (not that that will be a problem for you at the moment, but maybe for the future!)
good luck with finding something that suits you

Sorry, just remembered to reply lol.

Thanks everyone, we put her on the magic and she has seemed a little less stressed so going to give it a month or so and see how she does x
