Does anyone use, or have tried one of these?

My horse goes nicely in a kimblewick but he doesn't need anything that strong for regular work. I think he likes the straight bar and small port combination.

The only other snaffle I can find with a similar mouth piece is the Magic / Cambridge Snaffle - thought I might give this a try but I don't know much about it.

Al jumps Smokes in one, and he loves it. He's not strong as such, but can get quite buzzy and this bit seems to work best for him- he prefers it wrapped in latex though, as he seems to find the bulkier mouthpieces more comfortable.

I use one all the time on my horse who was western when we bought him with a horrible bit with long shanks. He didn't need such a severe bit so we tried this. He seems to go best in it but it is a very mild bit. People seem to query why it has such small rings (I've no idea!) and we did have one dressage judge get out of her car to look at it once.

I've used a Cambridge snaffle before, on a welsh with a large tongue and small mouth. He liked it and went well in it. I tried it on one of my current ones and she also liked it, but she really needs a full cheek so tried the full cheek comfort snaffle on her and she is going well in that now.

I'd imagine that's because the mouthpiece isn't dressage legal!

It worked very well for hacking out my dressage horse who could get a bit strong in his usual jointed snaffle.

Note though that as the bit is ported it is not dressage legal.

The Magic/ cambridge bit is not dressage legal so the judge could have eliminated you for using one.

Confused now has have done quite a few dressage tests in it including PC ones and no one has ever said anything!

Has anyone looked in the horse's mouth? Tbh, you've been quite lucky so far- if I'd seen bit rings that small I'd have queried as a dressage steward immediately and checked it, and if I was a fellow competitor I would have asked for it to be checked...

Everything I have ridden in one has loved it. I find the cobs with fleshy tongues especially go well in them

Are the rings so small so it can be used as an overcheck? I'm not sure! I've used one one occasion but don't find mine have an opinion on it compared to a normal mullen/straight/arched bit.

As I said in an earlier post - a dressage judge!

My PRE didn't seem to like it, but my instructor was very surprised! Apparently Lilly is the first horse she's known who didn't like one. As it's not BD legal I wasn't bothered about trying it twice.

It just sits in the tackroom now as she works sweetly in an NS and my gelding likes his Myler, but I've kept it anyway as I've heard such good things I'm sure it'll come in useful in future, and it was so cheap (£9 is pretty good for a bit!) I thought I may as well hang on to it.

The rings are small because it is intended for small ponies I think, I keep meaning to get one for my Welsh A who looks utterly ridiculous with normal sized bit rings on her wee face :-)
