Magnesium for dogs ??

Wondering if anyone has tried magnesium for a stressy/ worried dog ? My little working cocker is a strange one she's lovely nature but seems so worried about life :-( I was hoping to do agility with her as my other Cocker ( show) is now 10. But she seems to find it a chore and shuts down , in fact shut down is her go to thing sometimes even mid play at home , no noticeable reason , nothing I've heard or seen anyway . Yesterday evening out on a walk been this place many times out van happy waggy , 10 mins into walk tail tucked just sat looking at me looking back the way we came , ie had enough can't cope need to get back to my van :-(
She wear Dap collar is fed skinners salmon and rice
 
Is she an only dog?Id be considering a puppy pal at this point...it's been a huge boost in my boys case who lost his best pal last December. when she past he went into a slump...now he's back to his joyous self.
 
Not an only dog I have 2 others , 10 year old( Young at heart) cocker dog Buster and 8 year old Cairn bitch but the girls DO NOT get on :-( sadly when young dog Whispa had season at 5 months she attacked cairn Lilly , this happened couple of times so kept separate till spayed and recovered fully slowly re introduced but happened again when Whispa was 18months old was not pretty ! So unfortunately they have to be kept apart :'-(
So puppy not an option
 
Yes started at about a year old ( foundation stuff ) she is actually very talented on a good day :-/ other days she will just try to hide and tremble :'-( Has been out competing again some times she's fab other times just runs round like a looney, but happy :-) or get in I realease her she shuts down then another time won't even go in sits turns her back shuts down so so sad to see I've kept her out of ring for couple of months now have been to couple of shows just to wander and eat lots of treats ( if she's shut down nothing will tempt her fresh fish, chicken, liver, turkey&garlic sausage.)
 
First of all I would get her checked by the vet, it may be that she is in pain somewhere. If you get the all clear then I think you need a qualified behaviourist to see what is going on.

My dog is on Magnesium and it has not made much difference to him at all, none of the over the counter calming remedies have.
 
She's at the vet most months :-( off there again tomorrow has small lump reappeared on her neck was nothing serious last time but had completely heeled now new scab has formed :-/ She's the most expensive ( vet bills) pup ive ever owned :-0 ate a sock, couple grass seeds , sore throat, infected colon! The list goes on
She does hydro once a fortnight just for fun/ fitness with a qualified canine physio she also has checked her over nothing to be found Spoken to a behaviourist , off the record, she did say she seems almost bi polar :-0 TBH she is like having 2 different dogs my happy full of life typical busy cocker, and then Miss life is so hard it's all to scary :'-( breaks my heart This evening we have happy girl just done little bit of scent work only at home , and basic tricks when shes like this she loves to work use her brain she's so much fun :-)

Out of the box could she have a.brain tumour l?
 
There can be many medical reasons for a change in behaviour, a blood test to rule out a thyroid issue may be another place to start.

I do think you need qualified professional help to see what is going on, it might be something very subtle that you are not picking up on. Not a regular dog trainer, a behaviourist http://www.apbc.org.uk/help/regions
