Our pony is very cresty, when we got her it was very bad- managed to get it down well in May/June on very restricted grazing, she's still on restricted grazing bit it's gradually coming back, as is her tummy fat! I've read that magnesium can help with fat pads and cresty necks. Im also upping exercise so when shes not being ridden Im lunging her. She can also be a bit jumpy and mareish especially when she's in season and I noticed that it can help with this too. She's getting no hard feed at the moment as she doesn't need it but if magnesium would help what would be the best thing to feed it with? Thinking a handful of hifi lite? Anybody used this with any success? I'm wary of gimmicks so would be interested in opinions.

If you're going to give magnesium look for citrate rather than oxide - it's absorbed far better; no point in buying a supplement that's going to be excreted!

I had read that somewhere too BUT then read elsewhere it isn't true. Would be interested in any scientific research if you know of any please
