hi guys, my horse as just recovered from a hole in the ligament in her back, just under where the front of the saddle goes. A friend recommened I should try a magnetic rug on her. Do they work and which are the best ones on the market?

I use an Armadillo neck cover and will at some point invest in their rug too. It is brilliant as a warm up and warm down aid in the stable before and after riding. People leave them on too long though - max advised time is 4 hours as the body builds up an immunity otherwise.

I find mine doesn't cure the condition (my horse has arthritis in his neck) but does make him more comfortable and really helps keep his muscles from tightening up.

Was thinking about getting one of these rugs for Crimbo off hubby. My mare is an old lady and would like to think i could do as much as poss in her old age to be as comfy as poss?

Would love your view? I heard ages ago that it can kinda make them feel a little off colour initially. Did this happen to yr horse, as this is what put me off a little.

Thanks LB x

There is a company that advertise in the adverts in H+H and are called FMBS, I got a magnetic rug from them at a decent price and not bank breakable, you can even just buy the various magnets and sew them into an old rug. They also do a small magnetic pulsing machine which I also bought (although it was reasonably expensive) and I use them regularly on my baby ned who had back surgery last year.
I would tell you how much they cost but being a dim wit I can't remember!!
My boy certainly didn't seem to be off colour when I first used it though so be nice to your hubby for Christmas!

H Squirtlys-mum - thanks so much for that info. Im gonna try one out for my old mare.
