Hi I have a 5 year old with a possible SI problem. He has not yet been scanned but had shown an improvement with regular massage and stretching exercises. Unfortunately a bout of Azoturia put things back. I am thinking about a magnetic blanket or Back on Track rug and wondered if anyone had any experience of either. I realise that some will say there is no scientific proof but want to help my daughter's horse if I can. Thanks for any input.

If your horse suffers from azoturia then massage is contra-indicated. If the azoturia was a one-off, a long time ago, and blood tests are now all okay and your vet has given the go-ahead, then fine, but I would expect your therapist to be in contact with your vet discussing this.

Back On track for my boy. Got him the back warmer pad as it was only £85. He had his SI injected last year and the pad has proven invaluble, so much so we got a rug too and I'm planning on buying the neck rug next for my other lad. I'm a total convert.

I use Back on track knee boots for my old girls arthritis…. they have made a massive improvement- her swollen knees have shrunk in size and she happily coverts round field like a two year old….. if you could see how bad her arthritis is then you would not believe that possible.

Also my boy with 5 torn ligaments in his lower leg- he has magnetic boots during day and back on track boots at night….. can't say for sure if either have made a difference to him but he has improved so who knows…..

personally if it was one or other i'd go with back on track

Both my horses and I live in Back on Track gear as soon as the weather dips cold, to compensate for various fractures and arthritic joints! Of all the horse gear, I have made best use over 4 years of the mesh sheet as it is ideal on its own and also works as an underblanket in the very cold snaps. Highly effective at capturing body heat and stopping joints stiffening.

Just to add another vote for BoT products - had a back pad for a week and the difference in my horse's tight back is incredible. Really worth the money.
