I'm thinking about getting some Magnetic boots and possibly a rug for my horse. He is a 16 year old TB that suffers with a bit of stiffness in his pelvis/Back end. It seems to be worse when the weather is colder.

He has had all the usual checks done and regularly see the Chiro and Bowen therapist. He is also on a joint supplement.

Do you think magnetic boots might help? Ideally I would like some stable ones that can be left on over night, can anyone recommend any?

i don't know if they help or how they help but i have used a fetlock magnetic boot on my lad and it seems to have really helped him alot, he tore his DDFT last year and the prognosis wasn't good (mix of other problems as well as the DDFT) but i bought the boots as a last ditch attempt to help him and he's now back to being ridden and even the vet is surprised at how well he's improved.

i bought mine from ebay, i think the company was called equi-mag or something like that.

I am about to purchase some magnetic bell boots for Chance. I have read up on the magnetic therapy and have friends that use it, they swear by it and say that it makes a hell of a difference. Chance is 20 in March and i think he has the onset of Navicular :( These are suppose to help as do all the magnetic boots ;)

I have the Equimagnets magnetic rug, and reallt rate it. My boy gets very stiff, tight muscles due to his frequent tying up, and he loves his rug, he goes all dopey when it's on!

What I particularly like about the Equimagnets one is that it is a mesh rug, so can be used in the summer without them overheating.

It also has pockets so you can move the magnetic patches around to target certain areas.
When I bought mine from Ebay there was an offer that meant I got free magnetic leg wraps (suitable for hocks, fetlocks, knees) and I have used those, but would recommend some of the bioflow style for more routine use....these ones are ok, but don't stay in place particularly well!

Snip modelling his magnetic rug!

3beasties, the magnets in boots/rugs improve circulation to the area they are applied to so this can improve stiffness in that area but the magnet boots shouldn't be used for exercising as this also makes the blood circulate.

A lot of people rate them and i think that they are deffently worth a try, even if it only making your horse feel better in the short term.

Thanks RH, do you only use yours during exercise then?

no i don't ride in them, the info slip that came with them said not to ride/exercise with them on. i put them on once i get to the yard and take them off before i leave or before i ride.
my lad wears them for about 3 hours each day, i could leave them overnight but he's bandaged up so can't really use them!

the ones i got also came with 2 extra magnets to place even more 'healing' in a specific area. i got 2 fetlock boots/wraps for less than £20 brand new off ebay, definately worth trying at that price. like i said i don't know if they've helped or how but my boy is definately loads better than what the vet thought he'd be.
