Hi guys,

Does anyone use Magnetic boots (hocks particularly) purely for stiffness?

I know they're great for swelling etc, and have heard some fantastic reviews about them stopping fat legs on box rest blah blah

My boy has very slight stiffness in his hocks - has been checked by vets, vet is more than happy for him to carry on with what he's doing, he's on Tumeric which to my surprise has done wonders! But, now it's getting cold and turnout is starting to get a bit limited at my yard, I've been thinking about getting some magnetic boots.

Please can anyone tell me whether they're worth it, and what brand are best? I've only been looking at the Premier Equine ones but open to whatever works! Or, any other suggestions for him!

Sorry for long post and thank you thank you thank youuu:)

I used Bioflow boots for my arthritic mare, who wasn't responding to bute, she was very lame and would have been pts, except that the magnetic boots were miraculous. They don't work for every horse though.

Where do you bought it?

Bioflow are very effective - they have central reverse polarity which in a nutshell means the magnets have been inlaid into the metal disc in such a way that they provide optimum pulling action between the north and south poles which provide more energy within the blood vessels in the area. This improves circulation, provides warmth and in turn healing to the area concerned. I can recommend them - my horse has them on over winter and they are very good for his stiffness.

I was told by someone who has done a research paper that static magnets have very little effect whatsoever and that the only way of effectively using magnets is pulsed magnetic therapy.

Not my opinion as I use neither, just passing on what I've been told

You are quite right in that there is no 'scientific' explanation but the mare who was so lame that she could hardly walk on 2 bute a day and would have been pts by the end of the week wore the boots for 24 hrs, as recommended by Bioflow and *trotted* in from the field as sound as a pound for her tea. Thereafter, she wore them for 12 hrs per day and used to offer her feet to have the boots put on.
Unfortunately there were no scientists around to witness this, only her very concerned owners of 20 yrs. She was sound for the next 3 months when sadly she was pts because of a completely unrelated illlness.

Wow. What an amazing turn around!! My boy isn't lame with his stiff hocks yet but he never will be if I start using them now!

Thank you for the feed back
