Magnetic Boots Help!!!!

Hi

Could anybody please advise me on the best Magnetic Boots to help a Check Ligament Injury. He is now starting his second course of Adaquan injections, being cold hosed and iced and turned out in a small flat paddock. Any other advise greatfully received. Thanks
 
Hi , i dont know much about the magnetic boots but was advised to get the bioflow brushing boots to help with healing my little lads collateral (sp?) ligament and also his navicular. I did see a bit of improvement with them and still use them to turn out in now .

Bioflow ones are good. & i've also used 'New Equine Wear' ones - but they seem to be best just for stable use (not turnout).
 
I have a TB mare who damaged her check ligament 2-3 years ago. With alot of cold hosing, icing etc she recovered well and is back in full work. Occasionally she still has some swelling in that area and I use Veredus Magnetic Stable boots. Usually the swelling goes down overnight if she has the magnetic boots on. I use them throughout winter on both my horses.

You can also buy spare boot liners which are handy so you can regularly wash them.

I am really pleased with them as stable boots and for their magnetic qualities. Premier Equine make similar ones but their magnets are in the liners whilst Veredus have magnets in the boot itself.

Bioflow use a particular clever organisation of their magnets within their products which is called central reverse polarity. Simply put the magnets are grouped next to each other in such a way that the directional magnetic force field produced has a far superior action that normal run of the mill magnetic boots. That's the best way I can explain it. My horse has them on alternate fore and hind legs every night. I really believe they make a difference.
 
Does anyone have any proof that they actually work though? Proof not driven by the marketing machines of the companies that make them, that is. I mean independent, scientific proof. Not just hearsay.

I have seen the NEW ones bring swelling down in an hour. And I have seen the veredus ones help clear up lymphangitis. Both def reduce swelling.

Bioflow are also excellent. Premier Equine not so good as the magnets go hard in the liner and they are very heavy.

I have personally used all of these and I still use Bioflow and Veredus on both my veterans.

Kezza you have seen boots being worn whist swelling has reduced and boots being worn whilst lymphangitis has resolved.

What SN and I are asking for is scientific proof that the magnets have CAUSED these results and HOW they have caused them.

Oh apologies. I didn't look for scientific proof. I opted to try them out for myself to see the results on my ponies as every horse is different...

Kezza, there is really no need to be defensive. I'm on the fence on this one, as yes, they do appear to work, yet no one can provide an answer as to HOW they work and if there are any untoward side effects. There are probably few negative side effects, but using something that has so little scientific back up, does concern me. I don't just feel this way about magnets, but also with regard to some herbal and homoeopathic treatments/remedies.

I wasn't being defensive and don't tell me how to behave. I was merely apologising as I didn't realise scientific evidence was being sought. Had I read the posts properly I would've realised and not posted.

I guess you could say that we've both misinterpreted the written word if you think I was TELLING you how to behave. Oh dear.

Thank you for your positive comments. I wasn't looking for scientific proof just help in choosing some magnetic boots to help my poor boys leg. Do I go for Veredus at a small fortune who don't indicate their strength and time they can be left on for or the Hartley ones/bioflow etc. Having worked for a vet who specialised in accupunture I realise that each case is individual with individual responses to alternative therapy. But if it helps my moto is give it a go. So those who only go on facts and figures can stick to their own beliefs and those of us who like to take a broader approach can use treatments that are 1000's of years old with varying results. Each to their own!!!!!!!!
 
My daughters mare injured her SDFT 3 months ago, after 7 weeks box rest and limitedk rest with walking out in hand. Today she had another ultrasound scan and much to the vets surprise it has healed really well, much better than he was expecting, so can now start light ridden work. She has been wearing a magnetic leg band and I odnt know if its helped or not but after 24 hours of having it on the leg all the swelling and heat had gone. Vet said that although there wasnt really any proper evidence they work he uses them on himself and thinks they probably do help the healing process, so pony will be keeping it on.
 
In that case maria I will tell u more about what I use. I use veredus all round overnight in stable. We also had them on all day on a laminitic for support. To my knowledge there is no time limit and not had any probs in 5 yrs. I exercise mine in the bioflow. They are fine for light work. Magnets can cause a rise in temperature so I wouldn't use them for fast work but have done sponsored rides in them as I tend to go slow on my oldie. My vet was happy for me to ride in bioflows. The one time I rode without my boy came back lame but I have no proof it was the lack of bioflows. I never ride without them now.

The veredus are great in stable as they provide warmth and support too. But they get ripped easily so be prepared to sew patches on!

Hope that helps. Oh and the NEW ones kept spinning round on my boy, bioflows seem to stay put.

Where has this info come from.....surely its the boot that causes a fractional rise in surface temperature????

the bioflow ppl told me when they said their boots are ok to exercise in. My vet agreed with this when I double checked with her it was ok to exercise in them. Both said don't use for fast, hard work like cross country for this reason.
 
Thanks, thats great, using the bioflow on front during the day and backs at night, with fronts being support bandaged. Going to ask the vet about stem cell when I see him this week. He is insured with Petplan, if he says its worth looking at I'll check to make sure its covered. It should be as I have no previous conditions and I pay them a fortune each month for his insurance (though not loss of use as that was about £280 a month!!!!.

Do you know what strength and how many magnets are in the veredus boots. They seem to have been modelled so hopefully a bit stronger.
