The last few days my mares back legs have filled slightly after being in the stable. I think its because she's a lazy so and so and doesn't move when she's in. I was wondering if a pair of magnetic boots would help with this and if so which ones. They have to be able to be left on for a decent length of time as well as I know some are only used for an hour or something.

I am also getting a couple of licks etc to put around her stable so hopefully she'll stop being so lazy

Afraid don't know much about magnetic boots but do know that Premier Equine have just started doing them at a very reasonable price if you do decide to get some

I had problems with my boy and all 4 of his legs would be swollen in the morning, I used the veridus (sp) ones, although they are expensive they are the best thing I have ever bought, I put them on when he comes in and take off in the morning and he is fine and with skinny legs again! I think that Robinsons were the cheapest but they are an investment. Just watch the licks as you don't want her to be taking in too many sugars and then standing around as this will not help the leg situation.

Alternatively use straps - I do and they are designed to be left on as they don't cause heat. Great for those of us with horses with feather. Cairo has worn them for several years on front and I have just added a back set.

They do seem to help with his old joints and I have noticed a big improvement in his circulation which has been bad for years due to chemo.

Mine come from http://www.magnetic.uk.com and are £25 per strap.

Thanks for all that info. The straps look really good so think I might be investing in some of them.

I did see those boots on another website as well. I was a bit confused as to whether they could be worn for more than 4 hours at a time though.

I use the Equilibrium ones as they can be left on all day or all night - found them very effective on filled legs and also on windgalls too.

The boots can be left on in the box, winston wears them for 12 hours.
The strap he wears 24 hours a day, I just felt the boots were nice for winter to keep legs warm.
Plus you can move the outter casing which means you can apply the magnet to either a hock/knee or higher up the leg.

I've got Bioflow brushing boots, they're a mesh material so nice and light and should cause over heating. They can be left on for up to 12 hours out of 24.

Not in use since Mac is now fully retired but I do think they helped his recovery from his suspensory op. Also handy to have around to chuck on anything that gets a knock or a filled leg.

I used the bio-flow brushing boots and felt they were worth while.

He cant wear them now because he is out 24/7 and I am not sure that it would be a good idea with all the mud. Might get him a band instead
