Im looking to get some magnetic boots for my boy who is showing early signs of arthritis, can any one recommend me the best ones to get also if they could be used for turn out as he lives out most of the time?

Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad? Thanks

I have the bioflow boots which I use on one of my mares - she wears them for a few hours each day whilst turned out, and I think it really does help her.

I also have the verdus magnetic stable boots for my gelding. He wears these overnight. You can remove the lining, which makes them just like the sports medicine boots, and they would probably be ok for turning out in like that. They are quite expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion.

The magnets cause increased blood flow to the area, so they are particulary good for arthritic horses, especially in the winter, as the increased blood flow means the legs are kept warm, and the joints do not seize up (well, we all know how the cold can make you stiff, even if you don't have arthritis).

You aren't meant to use them for long periods of time, as they can cause the legs to overheat, which leads to the degeneration of tissue etc (breaking down of proteins). Obviously the length of time they can be worn for also depends on the strength of the magnets - the bioflow ones are pretty powerful I think, whereas the Verdus ones are designed to be worn overnight.

I've used NEW ones for years - 'brushing' type and hoof / over reach on my mare though only overnight in the stable. They're pretty substantial but fabric covered so may stand up to turn out but have fleece lining so maybe not long term or for a rainy day.
If you're considering any magnet hock boots / wraps, I'd say save your ££s and go for back brushing type, they still affect that area. I've spent a fortune on every make over the years and given up, they all fall off, rub or wear out and just aren't worth it. Hope that helps...

I have bioflow for riding and in the winter use equilibrium magnetic stable chaps. Great at reducing swelling and morning stiffness.

have the bioflow tendon wraps and the bioflow boots, use them overnight when he's stabled and it stops his legs filling up like a balloon.
