Hi all,

My mare is having a KS Operation soon and My Vet has suggested looking at some sort of Magnetic Rug/Pad to help with the healing and to help her relax through her back....

Could i have peoples opinions on the Veredus Magnetic Rug and the Equilibrium Magnetic Pad..Why you like/dont like etc... Other recommendations...

Thanks :)

As far as I am aware there is no scientific proof that magnetic rugs do any good. I do believe that you are not meant to use them in certain situations.

I do have the Armadillo magnetic rug which I sometimes use on my horse before a schooling session. They do seem to get warmer under it than an equivalent weight rug so I guess something is happening.

Having said that, my old arthritic dog will always choose to sleep on the dog bed with magnets (Armadillo) in preference to the other beds.

Make sure there are no underground cables within about 30 metres of her stable they give off a magnetic field and can cause static, not a good idea witha magnetic rug as the horse may get static shocks! We have and luckily didn't use the rug. He used one when on a competition yard and they thought his muscles were more relaxed. Didn't need it when he returned home due to the cables.

I used both back on track and magnetic products on my horse, and my horse is really chilled when using both products. If you are interested I do have a back on track back warmer for sales, used twice, as I ended up buying the rug for travelling.

Sorry all for the late reply!! All feedback is grateful received....Iv just been looking at the back on track rugs. I dont mind paying the price if the results are good. Iv heard so many pros & cons to magnetic rugs and heat5 rugs

My last horse had kissing spine op and i used both rugs, it helps with blood flow to the area and promotes healing

My back on track mesh rug arrived in post today for my horse who has sacroiliac injury and PSSM/EPSM. I liked the sound of it as being a mesh rug he can use it for travelling or in warmer weather too. I figured it would do no harm. Just hope it fits now!

Another vote for Back On Track. My boy with SI issues wears one as an under rug through winter and before he is ridden through summer. Definitely makes a difference - I have BOT products on all 3 of my horses, I've just bought rug for my other lad and my mare wears the warmer pad before work though I will get a rug for her before next winter. Getting a neck cover at the end of this month for the one with neck/poll probs and coveting the full neck fleece rug as a possible future purchase. Love them.
