Had the chiropractor/physio to my lad today as he has been a bit sore around the back lately.

She said he has been really tight across his back and back end and that has been causing his pain.

Anyway, just before she left she suggested a magnetic rug could help but I forgot to ask which type she had used.

Has anyone used one and if so, what brand?

I found one on ebay for £1200

Much as I love him he wont be getting that one.
 
Just looking at that one now scotsmare.

I've never used one before so not sure what kind of things I should be looking for in one of these.
 
I have been looking into this and am thinking of getting one of the Back on Track rugs - someone on my yard has one and has used it on a couple of horses with some good noticeable results - not sure how known they are in the UK but if you search on the internet you can find some test results etc on it and there are always a few on UK ebay. Worth a look - what I like about them is that the entire rug/pad/leg wraps are inpregnated with a ceramic magnetic stuff (sorry to be so scientific! :-)) so the whole area under the rug is gettiung the benefit, rather than just the magnets where you can only place them in certain areas - Ingrid Klimke uses them , Isabel Werth and I think Beeze Madden.
 
I used a magnetic rug kit from equimagnets. My horse has a sacroiliac ligament strain, which leads to tension in his back. When I looked at the ready made magnetic rugs, they didnt cover the areas I wanted to. Also, he is quite awkward to fit, and I wanted a really light rug as they sweat a lot under the magnets.

I have them attached to 2 summer sheets which he wears when he is in the stable. They are easy to wash (just take magnets off) and I can place the magnets where he needs them. Lots of people on my yard loved my magnetic rug, so I became a local agent for equimagnets.

I found that he was a lot more flexible in his back, but think this is down to a combination of him not being in full work anymore, the magnets and the equilibrium massage pad. I also have magnetic wraps which I put on his capped hock and that brought the swelling down. My mother also uses magnetic therapy to help with her arthritis.
 
I bought some neodynium magnets off ebay (worlds strongest magnet) and I think they were about £8.00 inc p&p for 10 and sewed them into an old fleece cooler I had. Seems to help, trouble is his rug e sometimes gets 'stuck' to the metal bars in the stable whilst wearing it! LOL x
 
I emailed Back on Track GJ and they sent me some info. V helpful I have to say.

I've always been a bit sceptical about magnetics but maybe I should broaden my mind. If it helps ned then it will be worth it.

I have been looking at getting a rug for my mare since "back lady" advised. However she has said that magnets need to have a guass rating of 1000 or more to be effective.

Can not find information aboout any of the rugs I can afford!! Any ideas?
 
I have a Veredus Magnetik rug and I found it worked briliiantly, unfortunately I only had the horse for a short while before it went back to its owners so it is still like brand new and sitting in my house doing nothing now!
