A couple of months ago Merlin pulled a muscle in this back. Probably caused by skidding in the field. Didn't see it happen but saw thirty foot skid marks leading up to broken fence. Merlin completely covered in mud on once side so think it could only have been him. Didn't seem lame but when riding him the next day he bucked in canter so assumed something was wrong. Had vet out who didn't think he was lame but the physio found tightness in his back which has been treated. Taken it easy over the the last few months (apart falling in swimming pool!). Quite a lot of time off due to weather but he has seemed fine and going really well. This week due to cold weather and him being a twit ridiculous galloping around the field and now he's not right again. Not pushing through with his right hind and stumbling slightly sometimes. Doesn't look lame but doesn't feel right. Feels loose in his hips. He's got a five acre field which I am going to section off and unfortunately spoil his fun. Tried to turn him out in the sand school today but galloped around and tried to jump out so now sulking in his box until I can get the field sorted out.

Has anybody got any ideas regarding magnetic rugs and do you think he would benefit from using one. He's obviously got an injury there which when he over exerts himself flairs up. Pest of a horse!

Thank you.

My chiropractor recommends putting these on a few hours after he's treated your horse too.

I have one from www.equimagnets.co.uk I bought the one that already had the pouches in as I'm lazy but you can just by the magnet pack and sew them on to any rug.

I used mine for cold backs and also for my horse that has been on box rest for 6 months, he did actually have hind limb lameness to start with that went within the first month of using the magnetic rug.

Definatly recommend a magnetic rug, I use one on one of my neddies and he has had major problems from kissing spine and he is a changed boy with his rug and devils relief.
