I was wondering who has used magnetic therapy and what results you had?

Specifically with relation to ageing horses, joint problems and athritis.

What did you use , and were you impressed?

I have had very good results with bioflow magnetic boots, mainly on an old mare with arthritis in the pastern joint, my vet was so impressed that he started recommending them (he had initially been very cynical). Have also used the boots on various ailments/horses and would not be without them now.

I first started using magnotherapy boots for my old boy with arthritis. They made a huge difference to him and helped to keep him much looser. He never came 100% sound, but he was old. He did come sound enough to enjoy his time in the field and not be hobbling out of his stable every morning.

Since then, ive used them on many horses for many different things, including general maintenance.

I originally used the bioflow brushing boots. However, i switched many years ago as i dont like leaving that kind of boot on for long periods. I now use the stable wrap type (added effect of keeping older joints warm in the winter) and find these to be much better.

Ive always had good results with magnotherapy

Only the FTS headpiece when ridden on my 18yo - TBH he is more resistant than stiff and it has made a huge difference - however, my mate tried one and found it no use at all!

Cairo has now worn for two years thin magnetic straps. He is an old heavy horse with typical front joint problems - low ringbone.

For him they have made a big difference, I have tried taking them off, and he goes lame, put them back on and he improves. He wears them 24 x 7. Without them he requires a lot of bute, but wearing them is bute free and able to do light work and the occasional little jump for fun.

They do not offer any warmth - he has built in leg warmers being a clydesdale so the thin straps are the most suitable for him out of the products on offer. They come from http://www.magnetic.uk.com.

i use bioflow brushing boots and the biolflow stable wraps, neither of my horses are arthritic or old but are in hard work and anything to help them!

I have used Bioflow boots with great success on my laminitic arthritic mare, & currently am using one on myself to help my ankle that I broke badly 3 months ago, its really helped the stiffnes & swelling in my ankle, though doesn't look too sexy in bed!! But I guess it works the same on the horses legs.

I use a magnetic rug on my horse at night as he has had back problems and I can tell the difference when he has not had it on. I used the NEW Magnetic boots when he had a split forming and found it very useful. I am a great beliver in using magnets.
