Hi,

My mare (15 yo coloured cob mare) has arthritic changes in her hocks- nothing major and she isn't lame, but it has been picked up by the farrier (due to how she wears her hooves), thermal image shows the hocks are slightly warmer) and chiropractor (due to tightness and the way she moves, etc). She is on a joint supplement and has her back done regularly, but I need to improve her topline following a period of unrelated illness. So, in addition to work, what are your feelings of massage pads (like Equilibrium's), magnets (either like Equilibrium's or anyone else)...or what else do you suggest?

My back lady really rates the Equillibrium massage pads (it's on my Christmas list) as so many people have said how fantastic they are and seen a huge improvement, so it's a must for me.

Equimagnets do a range of boots (hock, fetlock, tendon) type of magnetic boots which look very reasonably priced, for the sake of say £30.00 or however cheap they are it's a worth a shot, I'd double check with your vet to make sure what ever you use is ok and for how long for etc just to be on the safe side, I'm ordering some today to give them a whirl.

Also heard really good things about the magnetic rugs too but I don't know anyone personally who has one.

You can also get copper pastern wraps that strap on, again don't know of anyone how has tried one personally BUT my mum used to wear a copper bangle for her arthritis in her wrist (she had it bad in her wrist and fingers) and it really helped her, she swore by it, so if it works for people and dogs then surely it can help with equine joints as well. :)
