Hello,
My mare is 313 days, for the past 3 days she has had a waxy like substance on her teats and today i bought her in from the field and her back legs were moist and shiny and she had a whitish colour substance coming out of her teats. (hardly anything) She hasnt got a massive bag but it is warm. Is this normal please (i know every horse is different)?
Thank you :o

I would keep an eye on her, gestation lengths can vary quite a bit. She could foal early. (320 days not uncommon) I would be checking her pretty closely, if the white substance increases and starts dripping that is a pretty good sign.

A few hours before our maiden mare foaled the milk was actually spraying out from time to time. Her teats were very full and swollen as well as the bag.

Speak to your vet they should also give you a list of things to keep an eye out for, also read some foal/broodmare books they had a fair bit of information re signs things were close.
