I know it varies a lot ;) But just out of interest :D how long before foaling did your maiden mares start to bag up?

And who is expecting soon? :D
Daisy is possibly making a fool of everyone  :p and not sticking at all to any rough due date lol. She was meant to be due in May, then that changed to end of March/start of April but no signs of anything happening yet so might be a while still unless foalie decides it wants to make the most of this early summer weather :p

My maiden baggedup for just over 2 weeks this year, didn't wax up at all and had foalie in middle of the night. Came in to find foalie in the morning lol, I'd been checking for wax every day!!

We've just found out that a driving mare we bought 2 weeks ago is a BOGOF. Doesn't look in foal, so no idea when she is due.

oh god, we have a maiden mare who bagged up a couple of weeks ago. She was due on 29th march but was showing discomfort a couple of nights before so we have been doing foal watch since then. i am very very tired but will be on watch tonight!

there hasnt been any wax, but then a foal could appear without any wax or other signs. Hope its not too much longer, i have a feeling it could be wednesday/thursday this week, not sure why! :D

How exciting :D
Daisy is sort of a BOGOF, bit complicated but she's 18 and we're just hoping we get a happy healthy mum and baby!
Still nothing from her though, although the weekend volunteers ran in to tell the YM she had foaled yesterday, nice try but YM was well aware of the date and the fact Daisy had no milk the day before :p

My maiden was due on the 20th march and started bagging up on the 2nd and was well bagged up by due date she waxed on the 27th pm and started dripping milk on the 31st and foaled on sunday evening at 7pm. so no bed from the 27th!:) An older mare waxed on friday 30th am (it was there at 6am) and foaled that night at 11.30pm and she was due to foal on April 7th and has never been earlier than 10 days over before (8 previous foals) so you never know with mares.:D

Friend's mare showed oedema on her belly for about 6 weeks before foaling.

First signs of bagging up on thursday, a little more on the friday, wax on saturday morning and popped out a gorgeous filly foal sometime between 10pm and 12.30am on saturday night, without looking at all like she was going to foal at 10 pm!

Found at 12.30 am with foalie up, dry and feeding!

We have one here that is due middle of this month and has been bagged up for 5 weeks. She has been properly waxing up for six days and then today nothing! I am guessing she will foal in around five days. I am hoping it will be day time and in the field but no such luck I bet!

our mare seems to do something to make us think she will have it and then suddenly be back to normal and no wax etc.

we have a camera, with sound, set up now so will be staying in the warm and watching from here. doesnt look like it will be tonight, but you never know!

Thanks for the replies, they're interesting :D
A camera is a good idea :D I hope she foals soon for you!

I am just hoping Daisy is sticking to the original prediction or will at least be another few weeks so I don't miss too much before I go home from uni on the 11th May!

We're expecting!

My mare started bagging up a couple of weeks ago, but it has come and gone a couple of times since. She isn't due til the end of May but other than bagging up so early, she seems to be doing ok so far :)

Good luck to everyone who's on foal watch :D

Your foal is going to be stunning! :D

I would love Daisy to wait 3 weeks (and 4 days) until I'm back home but I think that's expecting a bit too much :p

Still waiting and have been on foal watch for 3 weeks. Mare bagged up 8 weeks ago and has been waxed up a month on and off now! I am thinking today might be the day though as her milk has gone sweet.

My maiden has just started bagging up and is due on 9th May, so fingers crossed she is on time - don't want her at the maternity unit for too long!!!!!

My YO had her first on weds night, humungus red head :) vet came today and said she looks like an 8 wk old. My suggestion of ginge minge for a name wasn't accepted ;) she was due last Sunday so not very overdue.
Next one was due yesterday, she's looking a bit saggy now and I reckon Sunday (bottle of wine riding on it) :)

I've noticed a few of your posts she certainly seems to have had you on your toes for some time  Hope she foals for you soon :D

No early babies this year, unlike last year when we had 3 v early, one late. Zenobia is in foal to Lolke, due early to mid May, she tends to display early and then stomp around for a few weeks dripping milk, thoroughly unimpressed - until she gets a baby to play with she isn't happy. We have bagging so far. so maybe she'll foal early again.
And Merlot is in foal to Bizkit, due late June early July, no signs yet, since she tends to hold on to them for a bit later than she should.
