Does anybody get their dog food by mail order and if so, do you recommend any sites?

I feed the puppy Royal Canin and I have noticed that zooplus.co.uk are quite a bit cheaper than PaH (£6 cheaper for 8kg bag) and postage is free, so all is good. But, how reliable are they, does anybody know?

Big dogs are on Skinners, which I will continue to get from the feed merchant.

Feed 99% raw but usually have a bag of Orijen in to shove in Buster Cubes and generally just google to find the cheapest price. Have used zooplus before and not had any probs, but am not a regular shopper.

I buy Fish4Dogs and used Chemist Direct and also VioVet- both cheaper than buying from a local supplier or the main Fish4Dogs website, I think by about £10! Both delivered in 3-5 days, and ask for a place to put it if you can't be in. Its worth having a Google search, as offers can vary a bit

K9capers

Burns RRP is £45. (15kg bag) I get it for £37 from them INCLUDING free delivery.

Brilliant and fast! :)

Have used mybowow too. But k9capers is cheaper at the moment.

it always works out more expensive shipping is the costly bit

Eh ?

8kg back at PaH, £36.99
8kg bag at zooplus £29.99, free p+p.

How does that make the mail order more expensive ?

Are you saying there is a hidden charge somewhere? If so, what is it and where is it?

I use VetUK to get fish4dogs & skinners F&T. The prices seem competitive, good customer services and we get sent a hour slot by delivery company which makes it easier. I get delivery free as i spend over £39 but if under its £4.99 (for food) so seems reasonable. I'm not sure how long it takes as we often order at odd times, but probably in 3-5 day range

I use zooplus for some stuff on a regular basis, as they are a German company they stock some items I cannot get in the UK. But they do have a UK distribution centre I believe. Have always found them to be very reliable, cheap, quick (out of stock items are marked on the site so you don't order then find out they are out of stock), have an efficient notification system that keeps your order tracked, and you can track delivery. If there has been a mistake or damage (twice in 3 years, once they left out a free gift, and once Parcel Force destroyed a parcel) they have refunded me, or given a voucher no quibbling.

Ordered from zooplus twice, both times badly packaged, damaged goods, wrong items and terrible customer service. Won't ever order from them again, stupid is the company that messes up for me..woman with as many dogs as I have (and who spends as much as I do on them) is worth being very nice to!! :D

I know VetUk is very recommended by alot of people and Titmuss too. I've found for me the local feed place is better, they give discount for bulk buy and order in if they don't supply something I need.

I didn't get good service from zooplus either, but then I get direct from the manufacturer now on the breeder scheme but buy in bulk , order a little while ago was £1600's worth on a pallet
