Everyone's future foals have inspired me to window show for stallions for Mim. I have always thought I might breed from her, only if and when I find the absolutely perfect stallion.

What I would love is an old fashioned Anglo Arab. Something small, compact, light on its feet and with the Araby traits that I love about Mim and just a bit more blood.

Something like these horses...

And it has to be chestnut 🤣 so I have a really strong chance of getting a chestnut foal which would be ideal.

If there was a 15-15.2hh purebred Arab that was still more the crabbet-y type with the breadth across the chest and shoulder rather than the super light seahorse / Arab show horse type then that could work too. Or a small thoroughbred might be perfect but it's hard to find a thoroughbred stallion which is only 15-15.2hh. Maybe show hack people might know, or sports pony breeders?

I'm not so keen to breed her that I'd breed for anything less than the kind of stallion that I'd sell a kidney for.

I will ask my friend who is Greenfield Arabians. She has proper Arabs, she will have a suggestion I’m sure.

Actually I’ll let people in here help as Mim is the Arab half and you want a tb, as you said 🤦‍♀️

An Anglo would be perfect so we could keep the Arab blood high but add a touch of blood.

Mim is 80.3% Arab.

But if there was a very very special Arab stallion then I wouldn't be opposed but it would need to be a little larger than most Arabs are.

Ooh, I think a crabbet type would be nice. And of course we would need to follow along on the forum, sweating when you are sweating, cheering when you are cheering, thinking up names and teaching the foal its ABCs.

He's a fab horse. Pearl Island Arabians are worth looking at too - wonderful working, sporting pure Bahraini Arabs and a lovely stud to deal with.

You can get chestnut Shagya Arabs to add the height but I can't find one standing in the UK. Or a nice Anglo for that matter.

Vlaqc stud breed Anglos and definitely have a chestnut stallion but their website is down, he might be called Vlaq lord bazinga?

I like Marbon Masterpiece for a crabbet stallion but he's only a chunky 14.3.

Look at racing bred Arab stallions.
I came across some a number of years back and a couple I met were seriously smart horses, not at all showy Arab

ETA - to see the type Google some of the Shadwell ones, Handassa, Muraqquib and a whole variety. What is available in uk and temperaments I couldn’t say

I love him but hes not going to add height and hes not really a competition horse if thats what you are looking forc. Theres def people breeding anglos out there but its hard to find a good anglo stallion as peopl either have arab mares and use TB or vice versa. The ones floating about tend to be show and colour based.

And you only have a 50/50 chance of chestnut, even with a chestnut stallion.

That is a good idea. All I'm really doing is considering how I could improve a horse like Mim and adding some sportiness, a better length of rein, a bit more suspension... not turning the foal into a sports horse (impossible coming from little Mim 🤣) but rather being aware of those areas where it couldn't hurt to add qualities rather than compound limitations. The araby-ness is something I love about her so a pure Arab of that type could definitely work.

There may be more Anglos in France and french arabs tend towards the workmanlike. Tannasg arabs have a chestnut Anglo filly for sale and also stand a smart liver chestnut stallion who I think is taller.

Back in the 70's I used a chestnut Anglo-arab called Ombre Solaire. He was by the bay show jumping arab, Hassani of Fairfield and out of a TB mare. He went arab racing as a mature horse, did ok but at 8 a bit old to start. If he was still around he would have suited you. I had some lovely foals from him, always liked Anglos.
