Have got to get a mains energiser as we now have a huge amount of electric fencing, too much to do from battery. I was assuming I can get a mains energiser and plug it in to my mains supply in tack room.

Can anybody advise me which is the best one to get?

Thanks

try the 'Paddock Perfection' shop on ebay. I cant remember his name because it is a while since we bought ours but he will talk you through everything you have fenced and tell you the best to buy. He will also fully explain all the things you need to buy, it is not as straightforward as it looks - especially the earth stake bit. I was going to use my old one from my battery energiser that is about 18" long because I couldnt find one - I actually needed 3 x 36" ones, the reason he doesnt advertise them on the site, so people don't only buy one! He was very helpful, runs a farm and actually uses the stuff on his farm so knows what he is talking about. We got a gallaher because that was the make I wanted but he will talk you through the sizes available and what would be suitable.

We bought one a few years ago, from our local Agriculture Store. best thing we ever did. You definately need 3 long stakes which have to be pushed in deep. Unfortunately I can't remember the make/model and I can't check because it is locked in somebody elses garage! (where we run if from)

I bought the last one from a company on ebay as it was cheeper than anywhere else. Dont think it really matters on make. You will find ones for other livestock are cheaper than ones being sold to horsey lot (what a surprise) What you need to look at is how much fening it can do. Normally it will give you no of meters. Other thing to look at is settings on fence most have a lower and higher one, designed for cow and horses. Higher one very useful if you have a horse that walks through them when on.
