Maintaining condition without fizz

My exracehorse has gained so much condition through the summer he looks great im worried over winter hes going to lose it is there anything I can feed him on to maintain it without him fizzing up and loosing his head ?

My Arab's are reactive to a lot of feed and they are good doers generally but have fed micronised linseed, copra, Equijewel, unmolased sugar beet and grass chaff without any silly behaviour, they can't have alfalfa or molasses it's like rocket fuel for them so I steer clear of it, most conditioning nuts have molasses in even a small amount has an effect on mine.

Another vote for micronised linseed. My ex-racer did really well on it.

omega or charnwood micronised linseed, you can feed up to 2 mugs a day if needed. There's a company that does linseed nuts too can't remember the name, you can also get it in flat small square biscuit type things. Sunflower seeds also good

Micronised linseed is my absolute favorite.
The ottb gets it by the mug for condition but even the fatties get a sprinkle, makes a big difference to skin coat and feet ?

I have an exracer who is a relatively good doer but he does drop weight when it gets cold. He currently looks the best he has done going into winter with a beautiful shiny coat. He currently has ad lib hay, keyflow pink mash, grass nuts, oil and salt. He has only been on the mash for a month or so.

My good doer mare has half a cup of linseed in her feed daily. She's looking fantastic, coat is super shiny.

I feed it to everything!
Also find it to be really helpful in disguising supplements.
Mine will now not eat his tea if I have run out of linseed

it was interesting, we got a nutritionist guy out to look at what feeds we were giving in the yard. and he basically said a lot of the feeds people love (like the pink mash) were basically an industry waste product with linseed added. and it was linseed that they were seeing the effects of. a friend did an experiment and cut her pink mash and fed sugar beet and linseed instead, and horse looked exactly the same!

Has anyone got a horse that's reactive to linseed? I tried my appyx on it once and he got the same light in his eyes he gets when he's on alfalfa, so I stopped it pronto before I saw any effect on his behaviour.

I fed sugar beet with no affect. Pink mash seems to be doing a great job.

Linseed lozenges. You only need a handful on top of your usual feed.
