Up until today Tilly's only tantrum would be thrown over the clippers and thats before I went within a few feet of her with them running!!! Watching her reaction it was clearly genuine fear rather than naughtiness so I decided come September I'd devote 10mins a day to slowly helping her adjust to them and therefore haven't had them up the yard since June.
Recent clipping posts prompted me to take my clippers up tonight and start what I was expecting to be a long month of clipper desensitisation. I decided the best approach was to put them in the pocket of my hoody and groom her as usual - something she really enjoys and I was amazed when she didn't even flinch when I approached with them running. She stood stock still while I groomed her from head to toe with them on in my pocket so I took them out and put them on her shoulder - nothing! Was then able to run them all over her body running and eventually trimmed her feathers and the base of her mane with them (which she tolerated fine even though she found it clearly very ticklish!!)
So another milestone accomplished, will keep running them over her a few times each week with the aim of giving her her first clip at the end of the month
