Am considering using him on my mare next year, anyone used him/got one of his sons or daughters? Also any comments on his confo much appreciated http://www.rocksfarmstud.co.uk/3.html
Don't know him (new to the horse in the UK thing) but I can say that depending on your girl, this boy will product incredible children, he has strong bone structure and is a serious horse.
Good luck and keep us posted when the pitter patter of hooves hit the hay..
Nor mine, theres something that i just dont like.....however if everyone liked the same horses the world would be boring! So if you like him then thats all that matters!!
well my mare is very short coupled - 5'6 rugs, but it was looking at his offspring that really attracted me to him he has thrown some very good stock. Also i love his frame, he has such a good length of rein. the second picture in the photo gallery is a much better one than on the home page
His colouring is very nice and that is about it. His sire looks much better than him and has better conformation. He looks too lengthy to me. He has a long neck and his ribs and loins are lengthy too. He does not look to have a particularly strong jumping hind quarters as they are quite angular and I prefer them more rounded to be honest.
Obviously it is your choice and whatever suits your mare. I would agree with Amy May though about the short coupled ( or short backed) mating as his length would produce a more rangy individual if that was what you were hoping for. However if your mare is fairly lengthy herself you would end up with an individual very much like him, unless that is what you want?
Good luck though

thought I'd post a pic of the mare i had in mind for him, shes 14.2, 17yrs and bred four foals that i know of (2 purebred arabs, 2 partbreds) and does her foals well. her first foal was by a 14.2 and is now 15.1 so has gained three inches from his parents. Photo make her shoulder look quite upright but i assure you its not its her hocks that are really her only fault.
i like the stallion, his face markings make it for me! does have stunning babies
is the stallion not too big for her? i know a mare who went to a stallion too big and the foal came out with a "hump" back, i cant remember what it is called exactly, but the back bone joined half way up the wither. but thats not to say it will happen to all smaller mares, esp if not their first foal.
good luck anyway!

Your mare is very like Amy. If I hadn't used the stallion I did I would have gone for a nice TB - of which there are many in the country. I would never put her to a warmblood. I think the cross of cob type and WB is usually hideous. Sallyf has two lovely TB's - High Tension is my particular favourite.
One of the things about breeding from your mare is consideration of what you want to do with it ultimately. For me the primary concern was the nature of the stallion I chose, as well as the overall look. I wasn't particularly interested in performance because I am breeding what I hope will be a nice little horse for me for the future - rather than a competition animal.
Well, I am bemused at people judging a horse they have never seen! Shame really, I know the Stallion and he is short coupled and very strong in the hindquarter, hence his and his offspring ability to jump huge fences, I have two of his kids and they both move like a dream and jump huge, fab temperaments I would not use any other one of my girls is 14.2hh and never had a problem as for the foal born what seems to have been scrunched up, think that had more to do with the way it was lying in his mums uterus, he is a good Stallion and proven I feel he should not be spoken about like some of these people on a public forum who have never seen the horse.
Thanks for posting Jump. It's interesting that you have had some good stock by him.
You can only judge by what you see in front of you - and what grabs one person, may not grab another. For every horse that I like, ten people will dislike and visa versa.
No one has been rude about this stallion - just chatted about what they liked / disliked.
You are obviously very pleased with him - and so this will be a big plus for the OP - who may well now go and see the horse in the flesh and like it even more.
just gone back on the website and they've changed the photo of him, the original one was him as a three year old which is probably why people have commented on him looking a bit long.
