I'd say the horse is being 2 line lunged (You can just about make out the persons feet in the background and is overbent and counterbent, so still leaving much to be desired in terms of their lunging skill but not quite as bad as a badly fitted 'makeshift pessoa'

Not a very appealing set of photographs, are they? Thank god thees a half decent jumping one, horse doesn't appear to have an awful lot going for it
