Makes me ashamed to live in NE Scotland :-(((((

Unbelievable - how had they not been noticed before I wonder.

The owner must have been some sort of hoarder - some of those horses looked in good knick, so I wonder if she'd been buying them in as well.

Those poor animals in the barn..............

They had been visited before. I know that as fact and I know as fact someone who reported them during that Winter when the snow was on the ground because each time she went past, there were no visible signs of hay on the snow in the field and she became concerned.

This woman started off with a couple of mares she wanted to breed.....

Good grief. Who were they reported to??

I agree the owner must have been a horse hoarder, I do wish horse hoarders would settle for hoarding toy model of horses or train sets or JLS posters or something rather than inflicting their deranged acquisition tendencies on large live and very dependent animals....:-(((

Just awful :( so glad these horses did not meet the same fate as the previous ones...

on a lighter note: that wee foal crashed out in the straw bed having its mum cover its wee face with hay made me smile:DD

My word. What a crying shame. I was watching the horses in the field and thinking I've seen worse and then it turns out the crack pot had a barn full of bodies. Horrible. At least the survivors are all safe and sound now though.

Believe the horrid woman has now been convicted:

Its horrifying that something like this has happened to close to home (I live about 20 mins away). But then again I've just learnt yesterday that apparently the NE of Scotland has the biggest dog fighting ring in the whole of the UK. I'm very ashamed!

I work in property so I'm always out and about in the depths of Aberdeenshire - have to say that I'm always on the look out for cruelty cases!

Thank you for posting that. I have been a WHW supporter for decades, and I so admire the work they do. But what an undertaking for Belwade - another 24 horses on top of their 59 already on the farm.

I hope they throw the book at the owner - and ban her/him from keeping livestock for life.

Yeah, this is the thing - why isnt she forced to pay a large amount of money to Belwade for having to look after these horses. I doubt they'll ban her from keeping horses for life. They never do. She'll probably get a 3 yr ban or something pathetic. Common sense says she should be banned from keeping ANY animal for life doesn't it?!

How awful. At least these were saved. Makes you wonder how many others there are out there in a similar situation, nearing or worse than these that are unknown. Appauling.
