Baby horse has been so brilliant in all respects, we took her on her first hack today (with mum riding my other horse as a "nanny"), and she was amazing and didn't spook at anything.
However, her one problem is that she doesn't like standing still. She is fine to groom etc, but when you get on her she wont stand still for longer than about 2 seconds, even when she's at home and relaxed (so as you can imagine she is worse at a show..). This proved a bit of a problem today out on her hack, as we had to stand at the side of a narrow road to wait for a car to pass, and she didn't want to stand still.
When you ask her to stand, she will stand for a few seconds and then she tries to walk off, and when you tell her not to she will strike out with her front leg, and when you tell her to stop doing that she starts doing mini rears/ leaps.
Usually I just keep her walking to prevent this, but we have to teach her some manners, especially as I want to do some WHPs on her.
So any tips on getting the sodding thing to stand still would be much appriciated
