I'm currently having a massive struggle getting my mare to eat her feed. She needs to have certain supplements that unfortunately don't taste very nice, and every day it's harder to get her to eat! She only has happy hoof, so there isn't a lot to disguise the taste, but I have tried various things, such as mint, treacle, mixing in a bit of bran etc but there's no fooling her! The treacle wouldn't have been ideal even if it had worked because of the sugar. Today I just had to keep adding more happy hoof, but I really hated doing that because she honestly doesn't need much feed at all. So, any suggestions? I'm happy to change her feed (but it needs to be fibre based/ low sugar etc) and I've heard good things about Copra, but realistically I need something that is available from your every day feed merchant and I can't find anywhere local that stocks copra. Any other suggestions? Is fast fibre more palatable, or plain old hi fi?

Apple juice diluted with warm water? Handful of soaked grass nuts are tastier than happy hoof & a small amount aren't too much sugar, especially as they'll expand soaked.

I drove 45 miles the other day to get copra! ;) think it's worth it though because you don't need much of it so I'd imagine it'll last a while! If you want to try some without getting stuck with a huge bag message me your address and I'll send you some.

Having seen Dom lick his bucket clean I'm sure it would work! :) x
