Making fillers?

I'm after a couple of showjumping fillers to get my pony used to them cos he's a bit spooky! Have looked online but theyre so expensive... i dont need very posh ones so was wondering if anyone has made their own? how did u do it? or if you know of any cheaper ones you can buy?

I quite like these as an alternative to normal fillers;

Alternatively I'd made my own fillers before by getting a sheet of MDF, covering in sticky-back plastic and adding designs on (again with SB plastic) and then attaching metal shelf brackets to the bottom as stands. Wooden stands are better though, as the shelf brackets stick out too far.

how about the plastic sheet things that fit over hay bales? saw them at gatcombe on a stand really cheap

Yes, I made my own.

Out of a bit of ply wood, use 2" square treated wood for the edges.

Then 1" by 2" for the feet. Then bought some of those 'L' shaped metal corner things that are about 80p each in B&Q. Use them to fix feet to ply.

I gave my fillers 2 layers of undercoat and then spray painted them with bright colours - as you can see, I had fun with the painting seeing how much of it is on the floor

Didn't make a very neat job of it.... but they're OK !

To make them a bit tougher I probably should have used 2 layers of ply with a layer of wood in the middle, but as normal, I never have the time!!

The ply wood was left over from another job, one pair of feet came off a screen from work, and everything else was left overs from other jobs, so it only cost me the paint!

An electric drill and a screw driver is all you need!

Reckon if I'd bought all the stuff it would've cost me about £20 all in for the pair of them.

Damn! Just remembered what I meant to do today - had to go to a trade fair and was going to ask one of my suppliers for some old exhibition banners, know they have some just the right size mostly blue background with their blurb for old products on to make fake 'water jump trays' from
